Tuesday 30th of October.
Previously our team had been formed now it was time to go official. We needed a name and a purpose.
It is much easier said than done.
Our group will be completing a podcast and magazine on a chosen social topic in Vietnam. After an extensive brainstorming session our unamed team had compiled a list of potential ideas. Ranging from quite dark and serious to accessible and relatable.
Here's what we came up with;
Abortion
Declining birth rates
Single Mums
Water health
Coming Out
How sports helps international students connect
Host Families
Students not having time to eat right
Family Pressure
Wild Cats at Rmit
Gambling
Family Business
It's fair to say it was a pretty broad list. But nothing really fit or felt right. We eventually settled on a concept which encompasses many of these topics.
Stress.
Inspired by the stress induced suicide of a Saigon high school student in April, we want to explore the pressures which surrounded his death and also the support services or lack of them in Vietnamese schools.
And so our group, RUOK? was born. In the process of research we came across a celebrity psychologist who we believe will form a major character in our podcast. Up next, create a compelling podcast script.
See you then.
