This week has been characterized by movement. The most notable being my newfound sense of mobility thanks to my new ride.

She's a beauty, like a fine painting, but like a fine painting it makes for an unreliable bike. My maiden journey on this bike was supposed to be a quick trip up the road to meet some friends and show off my wheels. It ended up being 85% stuck going flat out nowhere in the middle of Bui Vien on a bike with a flat battery. And the other 25% was me speeding home hoping not to stall again as I was sure I wouldn't be able to start it again.
So that was the first part. The second was a visit to the Cu Chi tunnels on Monday. I class this as mobility as we spent more time in transit to and from the tunnels than we did at the actual site. The history behind the tunnels is intriguing and confronting and it was certainly worthwhile to witness to an extent, however the tour operator wasn't great and the site was extremely busy.
And so we arrive at Tuesday morning's class. I feel like by week 3, the inertia of the first two weeks has fully warn off and now the ball is rolling, assignments and deadlines will come and go really quick and that's quite scary. If I take my time I'm running the risk of falling behind but if I hold on too tight the ride will be over before I even realized it had started. It's a balancing act between work and pleasure for sure. In today's class Simon checked the progress of everyone's blogs. I liked the fact that he did it on the big screen because I could steal people's ideas. I've got no shame in saying it.
Anyway Simon seemed to like my Mekong Delta post which was nice and I'm happy with how the blog is looking. With regards to the assignment today the RUOK? team made some serious progress on our podcast. Over the course of a few hours we completed the summary and a full mock up draft our script which was fantastic. Our intention now is to record on the weekend. For lack of a better word I'm enjoying the fact that I can implement some of the first year journalism training we learnt about covering instances of suicide during the creation of this podcast. I am feeling optimistic about this project. Everything is moving along nicely.
Until next time,
-T
